Roles and Values for the Advanced Professional REQUIREMENTS
The work you send in must be your own. Even if the source is cited correctly, no more than 30% of the submission as a whole and no more than 10% of any one source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased. When you turn in your assignment, you will get a report on how original it is. You can use this as a guide.

Roles and Values for the Advanced Professional You must use the rubric to guide how you make your submission, since it has detailed criteria that will be used to judge it. Each of the requirements below can be judged in more than one way. The titles of the rubric’s parts may have links to relevant parts of the course.

A. Use OneNote to do the following:

1. Write a one-paragraph professional mission statement that includes the following:

• A list of your career goals, aspirations, and how you want to move forward in your career.

• a summary of where you want to spend most of your time and energy in the job

a. Write a reflection on how your professional mission statement will guide you throughout your nursing career.

2. Write a professional summary (about 3–4 pages long), which should include the following:

a. Explain how a certain piece of work or artifact in your e-portfolio shows who you are as a learner and a healthcare professional.

b. Talk about how a certain piece of your e-portfolio shows your professional strengths.

c. Talk about the problems you ran into as your program went along.

i. Tell me how you got past these problems.

d. Explain how your classes helped you reach each of the nine goals of the nursing program.

e. Talk about how your career has changed since the start of your program.

B. In the section of the e-portfolio that you will call “Quality and Safety,” do the following:

1. Write a one-page reflection on what quality and safety mean to you in your professional life.

a. Talk about how the program helped you build your professional identity.

b. Find the things in your e-portfolio that back up your definition.

i. Explain how these artifacts back up what you said in part B1.

2. Talk about how the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certificate will help you in your future job as a registered nurse.
C. In the section of your e-portfolio that you will call “Evidence-Based Practice,” do the following:

1. Write a one-page reflection on what evidence-based practice means to you as a professional.

a. Talk about how the program helped you build your professional identity.

b. Find the things in your e-portfolio that back up your definition.

i. Explain how these artifacts support your definition from part C1.

2. Do the following to show what you know about evidence-based practice and applied nursing research (suggested length: 1 page):

a. Talk about how you can evaluate current primary research and use the ideas in your nursing practice, taking into account the following:

• How important and reliable the information is

• Differences between research and making things better (places and uses of each)

• Differences between first-hand and second-hand research and resources, as well as what each means for clinical practice

b. Describe how what you learned in the program helped you become an expert in evidence-based practice.

D. Do the following in the part of your e-portfolio you’ll call “Applied Leadership”:

1. Write a reflection (about a page long) on how you, as a professional, define “applied leadership.”

a. Talk about how the program helped you build your professional identity.

b. Find the things in your e-portfolio that back up your definition.

i. Explain how these artifacts support the definition from part D1.

Note: The artifacts should be added to your e-portfolio in the appendix.

2. Think about what you know about leadership (suggested length is one page) by doing the following:

a. Talk about how professional collaboration is important for good nursing leadership.

E. Do the following in the section of your e-portfolio that you will call “Community and Population Health”:

1. Write a one-page reflection on how you define community and population health in your professional life.

a. Talk about how the program helped you build your professional identity.

b. Find the things in your e-portfolio that back up your definition.

i. Explain how these artifacts support the definition from part E1.

Note: The artifacts should be added to your e-portfolio in the appendix.

2. Summarize your Community and Population Health task (one page is a good length) by doing the following:

a. Talk about what you learned from your task in Community Health Nursing.

b. Talk about what you found out that helped you come up with your community diagnosis.

c. Talk about how your first focus and diagnosis changed as you worked with your group.

3. Talk about how the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) certificate will help you in your future job as a nurse.

F. Give your e-portfolio an appendix by doing the following:

1. Include all of the artifacts (certificates, documents, previous assignments, and other items) that are examples of your best work and show that you know how to do all of the things listed in parts B, C, D, and E.

2. Add the “Nursing Conceptual Model” that is attached.

3. Provide an updated professional résumé.

Note: If you have a LinkedIn account, you can take a screenshot and include it with the rest of your documents.

4. Give professional references using one of the following:

• a professional reference questionnaire

• A full recommendation letter

• a list of four references from professionals

5. Send a copy of your certificate of completion from the IHI.

6. Send a copy of your AMNH completion certificate.

G. Send in your e-portfolio in APA style and format, with references and citations where they belong in the text.

H. Show that you can communicate professionally through the content and format of your submission.
