Leadership in organizational management Leadership skills are needed at different levels of an organization and in many different ways. Throughout your career, it’s important to know your leadership philosophy and your limits as a leader. This will help you communicate and make ethical decisions.

For this task, you will look at different ways to be a leader. Based on academic theories of leadership, you will choose a few public leaders and business situations to analyze. You will also make SMART goals (goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) to help you improve your own leadership skills.
Requirements:
Note: Your submission can come in different ways (e.g., text, publication, multimedia presentation). If a presentation is used, include detailed presenter notes in a separate word processing document for each slide, as needed, so that you can explain, analyze, and talk about everything that needs to be.

A. Find a well-known business leader in the real world who fits your leadership style or philosophy (e.g., Andrew Carnegie, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates).
1. Use a published scholarly leadership framework to find the leadership theory that best fits the chosen business leader’s style.
a. Use at least one academic source with a citation to help you frame your analysis.
2. Talk about how at least two of the leader’s traits can be used to get people to work harder.
B. Talk about three personal long-term SMART goals that you are committed to and that have to do with your professional development as a leader.
1. Talk about two short-term SMART goals you have for yourself that are related to professional leadership development.
2. Talk about what you need to know, be able to do, or have in order to reach each of the five goals.

3. Talk about at least two strengths you bring to an organization as a leader.
a. Explain how you will use your strengths from Part B3 to help you reach your professional goals.
4. Talk about at least two ways you need to improve your leadership skills.
a. Make at least two SMART goals that will help you improve the skills listed in part B4.
5. Think about how the SMART goals you made in parts B, B1, and B4a will help you grow as a professional.
C. Talk about a business situation (from your own experience or one that got a lot of attention) where leadership wasn’t good.
1. Use principles from at least one leadership theory to explain why the leadership in the scenario wasn’t good.

2. Talk about how you would use your leadership strengths, which you talked about in part B3, to make the situation better.
3. Talk about how you would improve the scenario by using the leadership skills you learned about in Part B4.
D. When you use sources, make sure to use APA format for all in-text citations and references.

Note: When using sources to back up ideas and parts of an assessment, the submission MUST include in-text citations in APA format and a reference list for any direct quotes or paraphrases.
